India secured a 2-1 win against China in the Jharkhand Asian Champions Trophy, securing their top spot in the table.
India's Asian Games loss to China marked their first loss since the 2016 ACT league match. After seven years, the Indian women's team gave a befitting reply by defeating China on the same ground. From the beginning, India was in an attacking position. The host managed to create gaps and push high for the first 15 minutes, despite China's attempts to break forward without success.
The Indian team scored a goal in the final minutes of the first quarter, with a penalty stroke by Deepika and a reverse shot by Salima Tete in the 26th which made 2-0. However, China gradually entered the game, using short passes to spread out the Indian defense. After a break, they finally converted their second PC in the 41st minute to reduce the margin.
Team China continued their dominance, forcing India to defend, and despite a forced stoppage, the Indian females managed to maintain their rhythm.
The Chinese crowd made the Indian team feel overwhelmed at the Asiad, but Ranchi managed to accommodate 15,000 people in an official space of 8,000 proving its worth.
Malaysia secured its first point with a draw of 1-1 against Korea, while Japan defeated Thailand 4-0 and India beat China 2-1.
