
India all set to Launch Cancer Vaccine for Women This Year

A vaccine to combat cancers affecting women will be available in the next five to six months, with girls aged 9 to 16 eligible for the shot, announced Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav on Tuesday. Speaking at a press conference, the Union Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, and Ayush (Independent Charge) shared that the vaccine’s research is nearly complete, and clinical trials are currently in progress.
Cancer cases in the country have risen, prompting the Central government to take action. Women above 30 will undergo screening at hospitals for early cancer detection. Daycare cancer centres will be established to aid in early detection of the disease. The government has waived customs duty on medicines used in cancer treatment.
A vaccine to combat cancers affecting women will be available in five to six months. Girls aged 9 to 16 will be eligible for inoculation. The vaccine will target breast, oral, and cervical cancers. Research on the vaccine is nearly complete, and clinical trials are currently underway.
The Central government is addressing the increasing number of cancer cases in the country. Women above 30 will undergo screening at hospitals for early cancer detection. The government will establish daycare cancer centers for early detection and treatment. Customs duty for cancer treatment medicines has been waived by the government. The country has 12,500 Ayush health facilities, with plans to increase them.
