Increase in Women Voter turnout in 5th Phase of LS Elections

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, women's voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh was lower than men in the first four phases, but increased in the fifth phase, with 63 per cent of women voting in comparison to 61.48 per cent of men who participated, showcasing a trend of female voter outnumbering in certain phases of the democratic process which is an indication of the importance of promoting female participation.
Jharkhand with 10.57 per cent, Bihar with 9.16 per cent, Odisha with 2.49 per cent, whereas Ladakh with 0.76 per cent saw significant increases in female voter participation, demonstrating the importance of women's active participation in the democratic process. Uttar Pradesh polling data shows women's voter turnout of 59.53 per cent for Phase 1, in the second phase women's turnout was 53.43 per cent, in the third phase women voters turnout was 56.01 per cent while in the fourth phase, women recorded 56.79 per cent polling.
The data revealed shows that in 18 parliamentary constituencies, women's voter turnout exceeded 60 per cent, with Saharanpur having the highest at 64.22 per cent. Male voter turnout was also higher at 67-86 per cent. However, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Shahjahanpur had the lowest female and male voter turnouts. Ghaziabad had the highest male voter turnout but the highest drop in female voter participation, while the same constituency registered the highest drop in males with 7,96,717 and females with 6,79,349 per cent voter participation.
