The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) has recommended veteran leader Parminder Chopra to become the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Finance Corporation (PFC). PFC is India’s largest Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) by net worth. If appointed, Parminder will be the first woman to hold the coveted position.

Parminder has been with PFC since 2005 and has been serving as Director (Finance) and CFO since 2020. Additionally, she is a member of the board of directors. She brings to the table over 35 years of experience in the power sector and has earlier worked with organizations such as the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation of India (NHPC) and the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL).

Parminder has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, and she is a qualified Cost Accountant and MBA.

In her new role as CMD, Parminder will ‘oversee strategic initiatives and drive growth to solidify the company’s position as a leading Maharatna PSU’.

Her appointment as CMD is also an important milestone for Indian women professionals who also aspire to surpass gender barriers and break the glass ceiling in corporate leadership.
