IIT Roorkee holds Workshop on Chronic Disease among Indian Women

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee held an international workshop on social determinants of lifestyle-related chronic and non-communicable diseases among adult women in India. The event titled 'Social Determinants of Lifestyle-Related Chronic and Non-Communicable Diseases among Adult Women in India' was attended by prominent experts, was organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and aimed to address the growing burden of chronic diseases and provide evidence-based solutions.
Guests and speakers with expertise from the respective field included Dr. Yutaro Setoya of WHO, Prof. Pradyot Ranjan Jena from NIT Surathkal, Dr. Swati Sharma from VIT Chennai Campus, and Profs. Sabu S. Padmadas and Tapas Mishra from the University of Southampton. Prof. K. K. Pant, the director of IIT Roorkee, addressed the event and said that these workshops not only connect academia with practical issues but also strengthen the institute's dedication to forming a more enlightened and healthy society.
Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Patjoshi, IPS, Government of Kerala, highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary collaborations in addressing lifestyle-related diseases, praising the role of academia and industry, rural Panchayats, and women's representatives in awareness campaigns. Prof. Anindya J. Mishra praised the workshop for its platform for discussions on addressing social determinants of lifestyle-related diseases among women, concluding with valuable insights.
