Horticulture Department, Jammu, inaugurates 1 month fruit processing training for women farmers at Dansal

Ram Savak, Director Horticulture Jammu, today inaugurated “One Month Training Programme on Fruit and Vegetables Preservation” at village Suketar, Dansal, with participation from more than 100 women.
The Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu S. Sarabjeet made the women farmers aware of the central and state-sponsored schemes of the department.
Ram Savak urged the women farmers to avail incentives under different schemes of the department for setting up small fruit and vegetables processing units while addressing them. Associated with the horticulture department, he asked them to form Self Help Groups (SHGs). He promised that for the value addition of fruit products under the PMFME scheme, which helps them in enhancing the family income, the department will help SHGs in setting up Micro Food Processing units. He urged them to avail the benefits of the training on the preservation of fruits and vegetables.
Anil Chibber, MCC Jammu, earlier, imparted training to the women in vegetable and fruits processing to convert these into value-added products such as Jam, Preserve, Sauces, Pickle, Candy, Squash etc.
Social worker Ritika Trehan also appealed to women farmers to get training in vegetable and fruit processing and set up small processing units and also thanked the department for providing such training in remote areas.
Among others, Sarpanch Panchayat Suketkar, DLSMS (Pomo) Sandeep Gupta, Kuldeep Sharma and officials of the department were present on the occasion.
