The best Indian women's hockey players returned to their respective state teams after a two-week break following the National Games, while the Indian Women's Hockey Core group has re-reported to SAI, Bengaluru for a four-week National Coaching Camp that ends on November 26.
The FIH Women's Nations Cup, which will begin on December 11 in Valencia, Spain, is the primary goal of the National Camp. The FIH Women's Nations Cup is a crucial event on the international calendar since it implements a promotion-relegation system, where the winners advance to the 2023–2024 FIH Hockey Women's Pro League.
As part of the camp, Mumtaz Khan, Sushma Kumari, and Kushboo will receive rehabilitation.
During the four-week National Camp, the selection trials for the upcoming FIH Nations Cup will also take place.
Ireland, Italy, Korea, and Spain are together in Pool A, while Canada, Japan, South Africa, and the Indian team are in Pool B.
Chief Coach Janneke Schopman explained the significance of the National Camp by saying, "The next four weeks is pretty significant for us as we will go through all the parts of our game that need to develop before we take on these tough teams in the FIH Nations Cup."
"Winning this tournament will give each side a chance to earn a spot in the FIH Hockey Pro League, thus it will undoubtedly be a difficult competition. As we get ready for major competitions like the Asian Games and the Paris Olympics, a spot in the Pro League is crucial for us because it gives us fantastic exposure playing against some of the best teams in the world. The players are prepared to give their all during our preparations since they fully appreciate the significance of the Nations Cup.”
