Hindustan Zinc honors 200 Female Mining Engineers embracing Gender Diversity

In order to observe International Women in Mining Day, Hindustan Zinc honored its group of over 200 female mining engineers, making it one of the largest in India. With the first and second All Women Underground Mine Rescue Teams in India, as well as the first female mine manager, the company is renowned for encouraging diversity. Hindustan Zinc is embracing gender diversity in its mining operations, with 22 per cent of its workforce being women.

Over 600 women in key roles in Indian manufacturing and mining companies significantly contribute to the industry, a higher percentage than other companies. Hindustan Zinc values diversity and inclusivity in its company ethos, offering a diverse portfolio of metals for sophisticated applications. The company supports women at all life stages, increasing career opportunities and progressive workplace policies, including night shifts, and fulfilling work content, leading to a rise in women professionals.

Hindustan Zinc is promoting gender parity in the metal and mining industry by utilizing technological advancements like Industry 4.0 automation, and robotics. The company's digital mines offer opportunities for all genders, attracting over 34 per cent of women in FY24.
