Indian women’s cricket team successfully pulled off a 347-run victory against England in the test match being played at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur interacted with reporters and highlighted her wish for more test matches for the Indian women’s cricket team in the future.
Speaking to reporters, she said, “We didn’t get that many opportunities in the Test format when we were playing cricket, but hopefully the new generation will get many more games, especially if you talk about Tests because we have quite a busy schedule in T20Is and ODIs, but Test cricket is something that gives you a lot of patience and you can improve your skills. If we get more Tests, that will help us as players.”
For the skipper too, this was the debut match after playing over 100 white-ball games for the Indian side.
The test match saw tremendous performances by three Test debutants, namely batters Shubha Satheesh and Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored half-centuries each, and fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur.
Amol Muzumdar, Indian coach spoke about the three highlight performances and marked it as a good sign for Indian cricket, “All of them who made their debut batted and bowled well. England is a top side and these youngsters got a taste of what Test cricket is about.
