To make it to the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) team of the season, Indian women’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the only player from India. The 32-year-old has been crucial in helping Melbourne Renegades enter the knockout stages and is in the fabulous form at the moment with both bat and ball.
With an average of 66.5 and three half-centuries to go with it, Harmanpreet has scored 399 runs in 11 innings in the tournament. She has also picked 15 wickets with the ball including a best of 3/22.
Former women stars, Lisa Sthalekar and Mel Jones, Shawn Flegier and journalist Laura Jolly were in the panel which chose the team of the season. Sophie Devine and Harmanpreet are the only two overseas players in the team of the season.
With eight wins in fourteen matches, the Renegades finished in second place and qualified for the ‘Challenger’ match. With nine wins in fourteen games, Devine’s Perth Scorchers topped the table and entered the grand final directly.
On November 24, Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers will play the ‘Eliminator’ and the winner of the game will meet the Renegades in the ‘Challenge’ on November 25. On November 27, the final will be played in Perth.
The WBBL Team of the Tournament consists of Sophie Devine, Georgia Redmayne, Harmanpreet Kaur, Grace Harris, Tahlia McGrath, Jess Jonassen, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Hannah Darlington, Tayla Vlaeminck and Darcie Brown. They will be supervised by Coach Simon Helmot.
