The Indian government is launching 'MSME TEAM' to onboard five lakh MSMEs onto the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), providing financial assistance for onboarding, cataloging, account management, logistics, packaging material, and design. Half of these beneficiaries will be women-owned enterprises, aiming to enhance market reach, improve digital presence, and promote inclusive economic growth.
Union Minister of MSME mentions, 'MSMEs will be a key force in the movement towards Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat. In a fast-changing industrial landscape, the MSMEs need to align themselves to adopting digital and technological solutions." In addition to this, the 'Yashasvini' campaign will also be launched in order to create awareness campaigns for the development of women-led informal micro-enterprises and provide capacity building, training, and handholding along with offering guidance to women-owned enterprises.
The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) initiative aims to help 500,000 MSMEs in India onboard, promoting digital inclusion and economic empowerment, particularly for women-led enterprises. ONDC aims to create a more inclusive digital commerce ecosystem, expand market reach, promote gender equality in entrepreneurship, and reduce business costs by providing a shared digital infrastructure. The government and industry collaboratively conduct awareness programs, provide technical support, and offer financial assistance.
