On the occasion of the anniversary of her birth, Google honoured PK Rosy, the first female actor in Malayalam cinema.

P. K. Rosy's birthdate is February 10, 1903. The first actress in Malayalam cinema, she was. She appeared in the film "Vigathakumaran," directed by J. C. Daniel (The Lost Child). She was born in Nandankode, Trivandrum, in 1903 as "Rajamma" to a Pulaya family. As to her living relatives, her father passed away when she was very young, putting her family in abject poverty.

When she was younger, she was a grass cutter. Her uncle supported her in finding a music and acting coach because she had a keen interest in the arts.

She also often went to the local performing arts school to take Kakkirasi Nattakam classes. This form of Tamil folk theatre is centered on stories about Siva and Parvati coming to Earth as nomads and is performed in a mix of Tamil and Malayalam.

In those days, acting was not typically seen as a woman's field of work, and women who believed it to be a serious profession were viewed as licentious or "loose." PK Rosy may have worried about what others would think of her, but her love for acting appears to transcended those concerns. Many claims that after her family converted to Christianity, they renamed her identity from Rajamma to Rosamma.

Sarojini, a Nair woman, was the character she portrayed in her debut film Vigathakumaran.

According to reports, Nair community members were incensed at the time because a Dalit woman represented a Nair woman in "Vigathukumaran." There are rumours that many well-known movie stars at the time turned down invitations to the Vigathakumaran launch if PK Rosy was scheduled to be there in person.

Because he was worried about the response, the director, Daniel, decided against personally inviting Elizabeth to the Capitol Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram's opening show. Even though PK Rosy had already arrived, protesters who were protesting the event made her see a fresh performance.
