Goa Must Encourage More Females into the Workforce Reiterates President Murmu

Goa's lawmakers need to act quickly to address the low rate of female participation in public life, politics, and the workforce urged by President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday. As Goa is moving on the path of rapid development following liberation is a matter of pride. This state is currently one of the top states in terms of various development sectors. Goa's per capita GDP is 2.5 times higher than the national average. Goa is among the top states in terms of water management, export abilities, innovation, education, and healthcare. However, it lacks the important aspect that needs to be rectified is a representation of women in public life and the workforce.
President Draupadi further stated that Goa has a liberal society where the participation of women is a must. The poor representation of women in the assembly and the low percentage of working women need to be changed, she asked the representatives at the Goa Legislative Assembly. There are only three female lawmakers in the 40-member Goa assembly.
The people of Goa have been praised by the President for their achievements since the country's liberation in 1961, during her three-day visit to the state.
In addition to this, the President also remarked that she was pleased to see that there are more than 60 per cent female students in Goa's higher education institutions. She emphasized that there was a need to increase the number of women working in Goa.
