G20 Empower Summit & Ministerial Meet on Women-led Development to be Held in Gujarat

The state government of Gujarat announced on Saturday that it will host the G20 EMPOWER summit and the G20 ministerial conference on women's empowerment in Gandhinagar from August 1 to 4. Women-led development will be the major focus and also the theme of this year's G20 meet. The government also reported that more than 600 delegates will be present during the meeting coming from around the globe. It will start on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, with the introduction of the G20 EMPOWER digital inclusion platform by Smriti Zubin Irani, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, and also G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant.

The state government of Gujarat also mentioned in the press release about the panel discussions that will be held focusing on issues such as how women are redefining leadership, how to use digital public infrastructure to advance women's financial equality, how to achieve "tech equity" for women, how to support women-owned businesses and also how to be inspired by the experiences of others.

Union Minister Smriti Irani will inaugurate the G20 ministerial conference on women's empowerment on the second day of the summit. There will be discussions in five ministerial sessions on topics like education and digital skill development for women's empowerment, skilling opportunities for women, and women in emerging technologies.

Subjects including women and space, the influence of culture on women's empowerment, and the impact of climate resilience on women's health and agriculture will be covered during the meeting.
