According to G20 Empower Co-Chair Rinawati Prihatiningsih, the 2nd Side Event will focus on the role of women in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as economic growth drivers.
Prihatiningsih stated during the 2nd Side Event, "Rebuilding Women's Productivity Post Pandemic," that this event will also explore ways to rebuild women's productivity during the post-pandemic period to support the people.
The G20 is an international meeting that brings together 19 countries, including India, to address key concerns. This year, Indonesia occupies the G20 presidency.
G20 Empower is one of Indonesia's G20 Presidency's working groups dedicated to advancing women's leadership and empowerment in the business sector.
She noted that the focus of this side event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) goal and the previous G20 declaration.
Furthermore, it is in line with the G20 Empower agenda, which is motivated by a desire to increase and accelerate women's production following the pandemic, according to her.
Three keynote speakers from the Ministries of Women's Empowerment and Protection, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, and Tourism and Creative Economy spoke at the event.
It also featured a panel discussion with members from the public and commercial sectors.
According to Prihatiningsih, this event would inspire the private sector and business owners to participate in global concerns by implementing regulations that promote gender equality in the workplace.
Furthermore, they expect it to have a significant influence on women, reducing the gender gap that exists in the workplace and in the entrepreneurial sector.
The minister of women's empowerment and child protection stated at the occasion that G20 Empower is an essential event in realising a common commitment to fight for gender equality and women's empowerment.
