To commemorate Raksha Bandhan 2021, the Haryana government announced on Tuesday that women and their children under the age of 15 will be able to travel free on state roadways buses on August 22.
On Twitter, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that it has been decided to provide free travel to women and children in the state up to the age of 15, so that sisters can visit their brothers' homes and tie rakhi.
In a series of tweets, the chief minister issued guidelines in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic, stating that state-run buses will operate at half capacity and that appropriate steps will be taken to ensure the safety of passengers.
“Keeping in view of Kovid-19, buses will be run with 50 percent capacity and suitable steps will be taken for safety. Those traveling in the bus will have to take care of face masks as well as other covid protocols,” he said.
Notably, this service would be available in state highway buses travelling from one location to another, including those travelling up to Chandigarh and Delhi. Surprisingly, the state government initiated this free travel service in 2006.
This service for women and children will be available throughout the state, as well as for trips from any location in Haryana to Delhi and Chandigarh.
Raksha Bandhan 2021 is an auspicious occasion in India to celebrate the unifying and everlasting bond of love, care, and respect between siblings. Sisters tie rakhi on their brothers' wrists and exchange gifts and sweets to mark the occasion. Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 22 this year.
