According to top government sources, among 69-member panel for the United Nations Mission Services-2022-2024 or United Nations Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (UNSAAT) 2022-2024, over 25% women police officers for the first time.

On condition of anonymity, a Home Ministry official told that 19 of the 69 individuals belong to various paramilitary forces, Central Police Organizations (CPOs), and police officials from various states.

This new 69-member qualified team has been added to the UNSAAT-2022-2024 panel, and its members will be assigned to five Indian embassies abroad, including Cyprus, South Sudan, and Mali.

According to another Ministry of Home Affairs officer, the maximum deployment period for each of the 69 members in Indian missions will be one year (MHA).

264 members of various police services had previously been nominated for UNSAAT. Following a request from the United Nations, the MHA separated the squad into 150 members on February 25. Because of the issue with COVID-19 and its potential impact on the next Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT) visit, the United Nations decided to reduce the number of UNSAAT-2022-2024 candidates to 150.

"Of the total 150 nominated candidates from MHA, only 127 were reported for the Assessment of Mission(AMS) conducted between January 31 and February 7. Two of the 127 members were disqualified-- one due to COVID and the other during documentation. Finally, only 125 appeared for AMS and 69 were selected for the United Nations Mission Services after completing various rounds of tests," MHA officer stated.

Vehicle handling, urban driving, computer skill, competency-based interview, and weapon handling were among the examinations that all 69 eligible police officers had to pass.
