FM Sitharaman emphasises Indian Women's Empowerment at Columbia University

Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman recently highlighted India's significant progress in bridging inequality and empowering women during an interaction session at Columbia University. She credited the measures taken by the government in a decade to implement this progress. Amidst global challenges like conflicts, trade wars, and supply chain disruptions, India showcases economic resilience creating a strong financial system. She mentioned that India kept a good balance, stability, and growth in inflation.
FM Sitharaman noted India's efforts, such as collateral-free lending, interest subvention, affordable housing for women, and health insurance schemes for poor and underserved communities. She emphasized the initiatives empowering women including the Drone Didi scheme uplifting rural women and bringing a technological shift in villages. It empowers them by offering training on how to operate drones for various purposes in agriculture and disaster management. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government encourages women's empowerment and leadership.
In order to foster strategic relations, she laid importance on strengthening ties with international partners. To meet the aspirations of 1.4 billion Indian citizens, these initiatives, schemes, and ties prioritize national interests. She further visited the New York Stock Exchange to discuss trading dynamics and India's presence at the global level.
