
FM Highlights SBI's Commitment to Empower Women & Boost Financial Inclusion

70 branches and 501 Women Customer Service Points of the State Bank of India (SBI) have been inaugurated by Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman on the occasion of International Women’s Day. In order to bring banking facility to underserved communities and populations across India, this move comes as a step in the right direction.
Speaking at the inauguration, FM shed light on SBI’s continued efforts towards empowering Indian women across India with financial independence.
The FM said, “These service points will enhance last-mile banking access, empowering more women to take charge of their financial well-being and contribute actively to India’s economic growth”. She also added, “SBI continues to be a trusted partner to over 51 crore customers—more than the population of many countries—demonstrating its deep-rooted commitment to economic progress across all income groups.”
FM Sitharaman also highlighted SBI’s agility in adapting to evolving digital landscape of Indian and the banking sector. She said, “SBI has redefined customer experiences, introduced seamless financial products, and enhanced operational efficiency, making banking more accessible and inclusive than ever before”.
Talking about SBI’s steadfast commitment to bring banking to underserved Indian communities, the FM noted the bank’s strategic move to focus on specific regions.
In a statement released by SBI, a note was made about the inauguration of branches in far-off villages such as Pughophoto in Nagaland, Itamati in Odisha, Chullimanoor in Kerala, Palasamudram in Andhra Pradesh, and Chinnambavi in Telangana.
