First Indian female Rafale pilot to participate in Exercise Orion in France

The first female pilot of the Indian Air Force (IAF) to fly the Rafale combat aircraft, Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh will take part in the ongoing multinational Exercise Orion in France. According to a report, Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh is in France to participate in the exercise, where for the first time India has sent its Rafale aircraft outside the nation.
Shivangi joined the Indian Air Force in the year 2017 where she was commissioned into the second group of female fighter pilots. She also flew the Rafale aircraft for the first time as a fighter pilot in 2020. Before flying the Rafale, she also flew the MiG-21 Bison.
Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh hails from Varanasi. She became a member of the IAF's Golden Arrows squadron which is established in Ambala, Punjab.
Another Indian female pilot, Squadron Leader Avni Chaturvedi was sent to Japan by the IAF for the first time for an international exercise named "Dharma Guardian" in January 2023.
