Uttar Pradesh Police is set to begin recruitment for its first all-women battalion. The state government of UP is expecting around 700 vacancies between December and January. Additionally, 20 per cent of over 60,000 civil police constable vacancies will be reserved for women.
It is anticipated that the state will hold exams for the recruitment of constables before the Lok Sabha elections, according to sources within the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board. Over 25,000 more positions for Sub-Inspectors, Jail Wardens, PAC Constables, firefighters, mounted police, and Special Security Force (SSF) are expected to be announced by the Board in the meantime.
According to sources, women and youth will soon be eligible to apply for positions as Sub-Inspectors in the civil police, SSF, Second Officers in the fire service, and computer operators. If additional positions such as those of SSF staff, jail warden, etc. are added, the overall number of openings through the police department alone is probably going to exceed 86,000. According to sources, over 20 lakh candidates are anticipated to apply for the remaining 83,000 positions, since 4.5 lakh candidates applied for the 2,000 radio operator positions.
The Uttar Pradesh government plans to establish the country's first all-women battalion to shift focus from caste-centric politics to underprivileged groups. The recruitment process for constable-rank personnel in civil police and PAC has been started on December 14, with application deadlines of January 1. Applicants must carry their Class 12 passing certificate from any recognized Indian education board for the respective post.
