Firebrand Jarkhand Poet Jacinta Kerketta featured in Forbes 'Self-Made Women' List

Jacinta Kerketta, a poet, writer and freelance journalist in Jharkhand, has been recognised on the Forbes' list of 'Self-Made Women', among others from India.
Kerketta is an Oraon tribe member from a village near Khudpos in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district.
For her contributions to contemporary Hindi writing, she has already won several national as well as international accolades.
Kerketta's literary works, which mostly deal with water, forests, soil, and Adivasi issues, have garnered international recognition.
She is Jharkhand's first-ever Adivasi poetess whose poetry have been published in three languages in the international arena.
She has also performed poetry in universities in Australia, Germany, Italy, and France.
On its website, Forbes India announced the list of women, stating that it includes women who are shattering preconceptions, disproving sceptics, and innovating.
"We searched for candidates who were self-made, and not those who had inherited riches or status. We looked for those who had struck the headlines or affected key stories over the past 12 months, and those who had compelling stories to tell," a write up on Forbes India's webpage said.
