Women officers will lead the Indian Coast Guard contingent in the Republic Day parade, promoting gender inclusivity in the country's armed forces.
Assistant Commandant Chunauti Sharma, a former National Cadet Corps (NCC) marcher who marched on the Kartavya Path, expressed her pride and happiness.
She said that this year it will be a historical event because it is the first time that women officers are in charge of leading the Jawans, unlike in the NCC where women contingents are placed separately.
She mentioned, “The routine was different when I marched with the NCC on the Rajpath as a member of the contingent. It gives me great pride to be heading up the Coast Guard contingent now. The women's contingent in NCC is distinct. However, the Jawans are being led by female officers this time, which makes a difference. Because my better half is leading the Sikh contingent in the parade and is also taking part, this parade holds special meaning for me. We have a unique opportunity to serve the country together.”
Assistant Commandant Priya, who is proud to be leading the Indian Coast Guard contingent, stated that the parade provides a national forum for showcasing the power and ability of women in the armed forces.
"Leading the Indian Coast Guard makes me proud. This is a significant chance to demonstrate the strength of women in our armed forces and to raise their level of contribution to India's power" she stated.
Assistant Commandant Hardik praises the inclusion of women in the armed forces, stating it enhances effectiveness and showcases diversity within the force. She believes this positive shift towards women's equality will contribute to the country's overall development and appreciation for the Indian government's initiative.
