BluSmart, which operates electric cabs, announced on Tuesday that it intends to increase the number of female driver-partners on its platform to 500 within a year.

According to a statement, the first batch of female drivers began operating BluSmart's all-electric cabs on May 31, 2021.

The female driver-partners are currently on board to drive from the BluSmart hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. To ensure their safety, the company will only offer these partners 8-hourly leases during the day.

The company states that, ”We, at BluSmart, believe in driving change through diversity and inclusion. Thus, we are ecstatic to welcome our Lady Driver-Partners, the newest addition to the BluSmart family!
This is just the beginning of our journey to empower as many lady-drivers as we can by making BluSmart a more inclusive workplace with each passing day.”

At BluSmart, diversity, and inclusion is in the DNA, and the company is delighted to welcome the women driver-partners to the BluSmart family, BluSmart Mobility co-founder and CEO Anmol Jaggi said.

"We aim to create an earning opportunity for everybody and anybody who aims to work. We have onboarded the first set of women driver-partners to start with, and are planning to take this number to 50 percent of our total driver-partner base, he added.

BluSmart stated that it chose the Airport hub for female partners because they will have access to dedicated facilities such as women restrooms, food courts, and so on. In addition, because of the high level of security deployed in that area, the airport is safe and well-lit.

In September of last year, the company raised $7 million (Rs 51 crore) in pre-Series A funding from a group of investors that included Inflection Point Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Survam Partners, Mumbai Angels, Chhatisgarh Investments Ltd, JITO Angels, Lets Venture Fund, and Kaplavriksh Fund.

The funds will be used to increase the number of cars on the platform, build more charging infrastructure, improve technology, and broaden the platform's geographical reach.

Anmol Singh Jaggi and Punit K Goyal founded it in 2019 with the goal of bringing a new narrative to the EV mobility space.
