Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, highlighted the potential of women-led development in India through self-help groups (SHGs). He visited Moragudi village in Andhra Pradesh and emphasized the transformative role these groups play in empowering rural women addressing around 3,000 SHGs women.
SHGs promote financial literacy, food processing, handloom, and millet-based products, supported by central schemes like PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises. Dr. Jitendra said, "These groups are playing a transformative role in empowering rural women by promoting financial literacy, food processing, and the production of handloom and millet-based products."
He also praised SHGs for economic self-reliance and encouraged skill development through SEEDAP. He visited the village during his three-day visit to YSR Kadapa under the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP), focusing on women's empowerment, education, infrastructure, tourism, and infrastructure development.
He stated "The ADP has shown us that with focused governance and collaboration, we can uplift even the most underdeveloped regions and provide their residents with opportunities with the best performing districts in the country. This is a testament to the vision of our Prime Minister, who believes in an inclusive and progressive India."
Dr Jitendra pledged to empower local communities, improve infrastructure, and foster innovation through ADP programs. He also established a central kitchen at Zila Parishad High School for nutritional needs.
