District Magistrate Monika Rani announced the launch of a new tech platform called E-Shakti that aims at empowering budding women entrepreneurs in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. Developed by Tejas Dahiya, a Class 12 student, E-Shakti will soon be available as a mobile application. The platform will enable 50,000 women in the district to engage in digital commerce, connecting them with broader markets.

DM Monika Rani mentioned, "E-Shakti will allow 50,000 in our district to engage in digital commerce. This platform links to rural communities with large markets, enabling artisans, farmers, and small-scale producers to showcase their products, equipping them with digital skills, and promoting self-reliance." She further mentioned, "We have a lot of artisans who make products using the stem of wheat, fibers of banana tree, bio-fertilizers, etc. However, they are in the initial phase of entrepreneurial efforts and need support to showcase their products to a wider customer base."

The Bahraich administration has proposed a platform for SHGs to sell their products. The platform, created in collaboration with the National Informatics Center, aligns with initiatives like the National Urban Livelihood Mission and One District One Product, providing an opportunity for women in remote areas to generate income and expand their businesses.

Deepak Singh, Deputy Commissioner of the National Rural Health Mission mentioned that the proposed application will support 20,197 women self-help groups with more than 2 lakh women associated. E-Shakti will facilitate the sale of NRLM, NULM, and ODOP products for over 50,000 women in the district, initially with cash-on-delivery payment options.
