Today is Diwali, or Deepavali, the Indian festival of lights that celebrates the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated over five days, starting on 29 October 2024 with the religious day of Dhanteras and ending in Bhai Dooj on November 2nd. Diwali is a significant festival for Hindus, characterized by excitement, joy, and sweets. People perform various pujas on this day, which corresponds to Amavasya Tithi of Kartik Month, marking the worship of Hindu goddesses, Maa Lakshmi and Maa Kali.

According to the Hindu calendar, Diwali will be celebrated this year on 31st October 2024, as it is the ideal day for worshipping Maa Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. The festival, celebrated in various religious traditions, is primarily depicted in the Ramayana epic, highlighting the core values of virtue and righteousness demonstrated by Lord Rama. He returned to Ayodhya after defeating the demon Ravana along with Sita Mata and Lord Lakshman after 14 years.

Diwali signifies lights or diyas, lamps, decorations, and bursting crackers, aiming to bring good luck and dispel negative forces. It symbolizes the holy power of Hindu deities and Goddesses who bring prosperity, wealth, good luck, strength, prowess, positivity, and calmness.
