CWG 22: PV Sindhu Clinches Gold at Women's Singles Badminton Finals

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has won the gold medal for India after defeating Michelle Li in Women’s Singles Badminton event at Commonwealth Games 22. This is Sindhu’ssecond gold medal in the Commonwealth Games. She won the gold medal in the mixed team eventand a silver medal in the women's singles event in the 2018 edition of CWG in Goldcoast.
PV Sindhu began her women’s singles campaign at CWG 22 with a 21-4, 21-11 win against Maldives’ Fathimath Nabaaha in the Round of 32. She then went on to win with 21-10, 21-9 over Uganda’s HusinaKobugabe in the Round of 16 and advanced into the quarter-finals. She then beat Malaysia’s Jin Wei Goh19-21, 21-14, 21-18 to enter the semi-final stage.
At the semi-final of women’s singles PV Sindhu got a 21-19, 21-17 win over Jia Min Yeo from Singapore’s and assured herself of a medal.
Sindhu began 2022 with winning a title at the Syed Modi International in India, before winning the 2022 Swiss Open. She also picked up her first Singapore Open title with a win over Asian Champion Wang Zhiyibefore participating in the Commonwealth Games 22.
Sindhualso won a silver medal in the Mixed Team badminton event in Birmingham, before winning the gold Women’s singles.
