City of Chennai gets Six More All Women Police Stations

Chennai City police commissioner, Shankar Jiwal inaugurated six more all-women police stations in the city on Wednesday. The new all-women stations are at Kotturpuram, Taramani, Neelankarai, Meenambakkam, Puzhal, and Koyambedu. The city of Chennai has 101 law and order police stations and crime police stations each. 37 of these are all-women police stations now.

Each of the new all-women police stations will house one inspector of police and eight other police personnel including sub-inspectors of police, head constables, and constables. “They have created these new police stations according to recommendations forwarded to the state home department,” said Shankar Jiwal.

Kotturpuram all-women police station will cover Kotturpuram and Abiramapuram police station jurisdictions. Taramani all-women police station will handle Taramani and Thoraipakkam police station jurisdictions. Neelankarai and Thiruvanmiyur police station jurisdictions are brought under the Neelankarai all-women police station. Meenambakkam police station will handle the airport and Meenambakkam police station jurisdiction. Additionally, Pushal and Madhavaram police stations will be covered by the Puzhal all-women police station. Similarly, the Koyambedu police station will cover the jurisdictions of Koyambedu and CMBT police stations.
