In terms of gender diversity, the Assam Rifles (AR) and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in India have achieved significant improvements. There are 41,606 female soldiers in these forces at present. By implementing a number of policies, such as promoting recruitment efforts in print and electronic media to draw in more female candidates, the government actively encourages the hiring of more female staff. The application fee is removed for all female candidates. Female candidates will also get relaxations in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) compared to male candidates.

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai outlines the Ministry's efforts to recruit women in CAPFs (Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, and Border Security Force), and AR, including wide publicity through print and electronic media.

Employees of the CAPF who are women are also eligible for benefits offered by the Central Government, such as maternity and child care leaves. To hire female employees, one female member is designated as a board member. The CAPFs offer daycare facilities and creches to assist its female staff.  At every level, committees have been established to handle allegations of sexual harassment from female employees. Employees who are female are granted the same possibilities as male employees for career advancement, including seniority and promotion, in accordance with recruitment regulations.
