The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled has revealed the lineup for the groundbreaking Women’s Bilateral T20 Cricket Series against Nepal, set to unfold in Mumbai. Fedfina lends its support to the series, reinforcing the commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
India is spurred by their previous tour to Nepal that concluded with a 1-3 series loss determined to rewrite the narrative. The Women in Blue are gearing up for an intense showdown, poised to engage in five T20 Matches from December 11 to December 15, 2023.
Four players have earned their maiden call-up to the Indian women's squad, adding fresh talent and vigour. These players, Simranjeet Kaur (Rajasthan) B2, Sunita Sarathe (Madhya Pradesh) B2, Geetha Mahato (Jharkhand) B3, and Kavya N R (Karnataka) B3, represent the evolving face of women's cricket in India.
India stands as the reigning Gold Medalist at the IBSA World Games, underscoring the team's prowess and resilience. To prepare for the upcoming series, the women’s squad will undergo an intensive 22-day cricket coaching camp, commencing on November 20, 2023, at CBD Belapur, Maharashtra. This strategic training period aims to fine-tune skills and foster team cohesion.
The much-anticipated announcement of the captain and vice-captain is scheduled for November 28th in Mumbai, adding an element of anticipation and excitement to the prelude of the series. The Nepal team is expected to arrive in India on December 10, 2023, setting the stage for the inaugural Fedfina Women’s Bilateral T20 Cricket Series for the Blind 2023.
As the cricketing world embraces diversity and inclusivity, this historic series not only marks a milestone in women's cricket but also serves as a testament to the transformative power of sports in empowering visually impaired women.
