Edtech unicorn BYJU'S along with WhiteHat Jr has globally launched an online live one-on-one learning platform, ‘BYJU'S Future School’ as a sub-brand.

The program will be the first full year of integrating both learning methods - live classes (WhiteHat Jr) and offline classes. The new platform will be available in six countries including the USA, UK, Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, and Mexico.

"The upgrade rates are very high in the USA and Latin America, and we are doing this organically and efficiently. We are building a model where teachers, mostly women, in different regions of the world, can teach math and coding, and come back to the formal economy," said Byju Raveendran, Founder & CEO, BYJU'S.

"If you look at it, only 23 percent of women are in the formal workforce in our country, whereas it is close to 38 percent in Latin American regions. Imagine if more women can qualify as teachers using BYJU's Future Classes, and they can come back to the formal economy. Also, the upgrade rates for students in the USA and Latin America is around ninety percent and eighty-five percent respectively," explained Karan Bajaj, Founder & CEO, WhiteHat Jr.

BYJU'S Future School, which is supported by 11,000 trained women teachers in India who work with students from English-speaking countries, is now aiming to expand further into non-English speaking markets such as Mexico and Brazil. In addition to onboarding trained women teachers who communicate with the students in these two countries, the coding programme will be made available in Spanish and Portuguese.

The new online learning platform has a computer vision platform, Osmo which will make teachers enablers of experiential education, rather than spoon-feeding. This digital model, in which students are guided by a device and a workbook, will enable teachers to better prepare students by capturing information about their understanding in the app.

Bangalore based Byju’s is an edtech bigwig with a current valuation of over $13 billion. Founded by Byju Raveendran and Divya Gokulnath in 2011, the platform has over 80 million students registered on it. The firm’s new initiative, ‘BYJU’S Future School’ is looking to expand to 350 million users worldwide by FY 2022.
