Budget 2024-25 Prioritizes Women's Welfare in Kochi

Sanitha Raheem, the Vice President of the district panchayat of Kochi, presented the budget for 2024–25 on Tuesday. It proposes spending Rs 169.53cr and generating Rs. 173.87cr in total. The budget has prioritized education, women's welfare, and infrastructure development.
It has been recommended that an Ernakulam District Labour Co-Operative Society would be established to carry out the infrastructure projects in a productive and high-quality manner. Under the panchayat, a cooperative society of laborers would also be established and the district's "Smithies" would be redeveloped for Rs 10 lakh.
Under the budget 2024-25 expenses, the Aluva District Hospital, which is being renovated into a multi-specialty hospital, will soon have an MRI scanner installed. The "Swaraj" project, would adopt a village and help it become self-sufficient in a number of ways, around Rs. 50 lakh has been kept aside. In addition, Rs 30 lakh was set out in the budget to carry out literacy initiatives, such as those for migratory workers and the blind.
A total of Rs 30 lakh has been allocated for the welfare of transgender individuals, and another Rs 25 lakh will be used to establish an ability center for disabled people. A budget of Rs 20 lakh has been earmarked for the establishment of an animal cremation in coastal areas.
Rs 10 crore will be used to establish, a biopark to treat garbage. Women's welfare will be promoted through phone counseling, boat driving training under "Cycle Bell," and cinematography training under "Vision." Around Rs 25 lakh has been set aside for the transformation of markets into night markets. Mulavukad panchayat plans to introduce a floating market at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. Initiatives to promote millet farming will be put into practice and a distinctive amount will be provided to the farmers for producing byproducts of millet.
