BSF Launches All-Women Ganga River Rafting Expedition

A unique All Women Ganga River Campaign 2024 has been recently launched from Devprayag Sangam. The 53-day long expedition has been undertaken by the BSF Women’s Wing and Namami Gange team. The rally was flagged off by BSF IG Raja Babu and will be led by led by Sub Inspector Praya Meena of BSF.
The objective of the expedition is to spread the message of clean Ganga and uninterrupted Ganga, along with working for women’s empowerment.
As the flagging off of the expedition took place, IG BSF Raja Babu highlighted that this is the first Indian all-women’s team to embark on such an adventure programme. The campaign will see 20 women soldiers of BSF participating in it for which they have received six weeks of special training.
IG BSF Raja Babu also stressed upon Ganga being the most sacred Indian river and the BSP’s endeavour to keep the holy river clean and uninterrupted. The rally will cover a distance of 2,500 km beginning from Devprayag and concluding in Gangasagar on 24 December.
Speaking at the launch, the expedition’s leader, BSF Sub Inspector Priya Meena shared details of the expedition while also mentioning that the message of clean and uninterrupted Ganga will be taken to the new generation along the 43 towns being covered by the expedition. Being conducted in two rafts, a security team led by Deputy Commandant Manoj Sundariyal will also join the campaign.
The team will now be handed the expedition flag on November 4 by Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil at Haridwar.
It will complete its journey on December 26 at Diamond Harbour in West Bengal.
