Bhavna Kesar Becomes First Woman Judge from Rajouri District of J&K

Bhawana Kesar, the daughter of a Tailor, made history on April 5, 2024, as she became the first woman from the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir to pass the judicial civil services exam. This phenomenal achievement made by Bhawana has shattered social barriers and provided the community with a sense of pride and joy.

Bhawana belongs to a middle-class background, her mother is a housewife and her father owns a decent tailor store in Naushahra Bazaar. She had a modest academic career but her perseverance and hard work paid off. She cleared the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service (Judicial) exam after earning her BA LLB from Punjab University. Her parents gave utmost support at every step she took in her career, demonstrating that hard work and determination can bring success against all obstacles.

Bhawana, who lives in the Nowshera district near the Line of Control (LoC), highlighted that being in difficult circumstances should never be a reason to give up on goals. She encourages girls to pursue their education despite any harsh scenarios, urging them to face any situation with courage and determination, promoting the belief that everything is easy when set to a task.
