Bhagyashri Jadhav clinches Silver in Women's Shot Put F34 in Kobe

Indian athletes, including Bhagyashri Jadhav, have continued their impressive performance at the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships. Bhagyashri grabbed a silver medal in the Women's Shot Put F34 during the event in Kobe, Japan. She is India's TOP Scheme athlete, and hurled the iron ball to an impressive 7.52 meters in the finals, contributing to India's five medals including one gold, three silver, and one bronze.
Bhagyashri hurled the iron ball to 7.56 meters in the first attempt following three fouls, then landed a throw of 6.82 meters, paving the way to secure a 7.52-meter throw. China's Lijuan Zou won the gold at the same event with the best throw of 8.48 meters, while Morocco's Saida Amoudi took the bronze with 7.02 meters. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Deepthi Jeevanji clinched India's first gold in the women's 400m T20 breaking a world record. She clocked at 55.07 seconds, breaking Breanna Clark's previous world record of 55.12 seconds set during last year's Paris championships.
Other notable athlete, Yogesh Kathuniya won a silver medal in the F56 category with a throw of 41.80 meters, while Nishad Kumar won a silver in the Men's High Jump T47 final with an impressive season-best mark of 1.99 meters. Additionally, Preethi Pal won a bronze medal in the Women's 200m T35 category, bringing India's total to two medals.
