The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka (AWAKE) launched a Credit Linkage Cell in Bengaluru on Thursday, November 28, 2024. This initiative aims to connect women entrepreneurs with credit providers, simplifying access to financial resources and fostering economic growth.
The Credit Linkage Cell aims to offer financial literacy, counseling, and workshops to promote sustainable entrepreneurship involving chartered accountants, company secretaries, retired bank officers, and banking officials. The launch coincides with a pilot commercial driving training initiative for women funded by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), which will provide commercial driving licenses to 60 women.
Jagadeeshwari D, AWAKE Secretary, mentioned, "Parents prefer women drivers for their children, and solo women travelers seek safer options after incidents of harassment." She stated that women drivers could earn between 18,000 to Rs 90,000 per month due to this initiative, resulting in alleviating financial burdens on low-income families.
AWAKE is promoting entrepreneurship and empowering women in unconventional sectors by encouraging more women in transportation, reducing incidents of drunk and rash driving, and building confidence in the industry, underlining its commitment to societal change.
