Army Launches Short Service Commission Technical Courses; 21 Female Cadets Trained so far

The Indian Army has launched the Short Service Commission Technical Course at the Officer Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya, preparing B.Tech students to become army officers. The course, which began on April 1, currently has 190 cadets along with 21 female cadets, with an expected increase to 450 by October. With an aim to prepare both men and women for service, the OTA Gaya has previously offered training under two courses: Technical Entry Scheme and the Special Commission Officer.

The academy will offer women military officers training shattering stereotypes by pursuing their dreams to serve the nation. The Inter pass students to be fielded in the Technical Training Program whereas B.Tech students will be given preference in the Short Service Commission Technical Training Program, which will run from March to September and October to March, as mentioned by Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh Minhas of OTA Gaya.

Officer cadets in Gaya OTA started on 18 July 2011, will have an average age of 23.5 years cadets who will undergo training. The 13-year program includes the Technical Entry Scheme and Special Commission Officers, with the Short Service Commission Technical Training Course aiming to train B.Tech students in Bihar and Gaya districts.
