Anurag Thakur launches 'Azadi Ki Amrit Kahaniyan,' a Short Video Series Featuring Inspiring Women's Tales

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur released 'Azadi Ki Amrit Kahaniya', a short video series made in conjunction with OTT provider Netflix, on Tuesday as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

With numerous efforts, he said, the ministry has been a crucial part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

In India, the concept of Azadi is linked to women's emancipation, and the Minister noted that the term Azadi, or freedom, has a broader connotation for women who must also contend with preconceptions and taboos in society. He went on to say that the emancipation of women was the defining feature of a society's emancipation index.

Speaking on the collaboration, the minister said this programme intends to bring out inspiring stories of Indians and these stories shall motivate and empower more people to attain their goals.

He went on to say that this was a long-term cooperation that will feature a variety of themes and storylines. "Netflix will release twenty-five videos on topics like as women's empowerment, the environment, and sustainable development, as well as other significant days. Netflix will create two-minute short films for the Ministry that will be shared on social media and broadcast on Doordarshan "According to a press release, Thakur added.

Women who make a difference Basanti Devi, a Padma Shri awardee for being the first woman in the world to summit Mount Everest twice in five days in 2017, Anshu Jamsenpa, a Padma Shri awardee for being the first woman in the world to summit Mount Everest twice in five days in 2017, and Harshini Kanhekar, India's first female firefighter, were also present at the launch.

The Minister praised the three ladies on the dais for their accomplishments, saying that their stories would inspire people all around the country.

He also expressed the hope that, as a result of this collaboration, filmmakers from all over the world will come to India to create films and documentaries for not only the Indian audience, but for the entire world to see.

Bela Bajaria, Netflix's Head of Global TV, said that India's entertainment industry was one of the most vibrant in the world, and that India was exceptionally well positioned in the age of digital entertainment.

She said it is "in pursuance of this partnership Netflix has created a series of short videos based on real-life stories aimed to celebrate the achievement of people from all corners of India".

'Azadi Ki Amrit Kahaniyan' is a well-known programme that highlights inspiring Indians' tales on a variety of topics, including women's empowerment, the environment, and sustainability, among others. The eclectic collection of stories aims to inspire and encourage Indians from all over the country.Three videos featuring Basanti Devi, Anshu, and Harshini, as well as a trailer for the series, have been released. With an emphasis on showcasing and honouring exemplary women, Anurag Thakur honoured the three changemakers, praising their efforts to empower women across the country and lead by example.
