Annu Rani Qualifies for the World Athletics Championships Women's Javelin Throw Finals

India's Annu Rani qualified for the women's javelin throw final on Thursday when all the Indian supporters were eager to see Neeraj Chopra compete at the World Athletics Championships in the US. In the women's javelin throw final at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Rani will be competing for the second time in a row. The talented Indian javelin thrower made it to the World Athletics Championships finals for the first time in 2019 when the competition was held in Doha, Qatar.

Regarding Annu Rani's performance at the current World Athletics Championships, the Indian athlete missed the automatic qualifying mark of 62.5m but still managed to throw the javelin 59.60m to qualify as one of the 12 best throwers for the World Athletics Championship final. Only three athletes were able to go automatically to the javelin throw final, including Japan's Haruka Kitaguchi, who had the best throw of the qualifying round and hit the 64.32 mark on her first attempt. Shiying Liu of China and Livia Jasiunaite of Lithuania had the second- and third-best throws, measuring 63.86 metres and 63.80 metres, respectively.
Annu Rani committed a foul to start the match. The 29-year-old, though, recovered to throw cleanly 55.35 metres in her subsequent effort. Annu Rani, an Indian, gave it her all in the third attempt, throwing the javelin 59.60 metres, which helped her place fifth in Qualification B and eighth overall in the competition.
A National Record for Annu Rani
Annu Rani had already broken her own javelin throw record at the AFI's Indian Open javelin throw tournament before the World Athletics Championships. The spear thrower from Meerut improved by 58 centimetres, reaching a distance of 63.82 metres. She broke her own previous 63.24-meter national record, which she had established in Patiala back in March 2021, with the distance.
Since she originally acquired the national record from Suman Devi back in June 2014, she has broken it eight times.
