Anita Bhogle, author of Equal Yet Different, discussed women leaders and managers. She said she borrowed the book’s title from Australian cricketer Steve Waugh, whom she admires for his unique leadership. On March 4, 2025, Bhogle was in Hyderabad for a conversation with Priya Gazdar at T-Hub, organized by the FICCI FLO Hyderabad Chapter.
Anita, an IIT Bombay and IIM Ahmedabad graduate, is known for her work in Advertising and Market Research. Co-hosting The Winning Way with husband Harsha Bhogle, she discussed her book, leadership, work-life balance, and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the need for women to be treated equally and differently in the workplace.
Anita emphasized that women should stay positive, tactfully say " no, " and develop thick skin. She urged women to prove critics wrong and shared her experience balancing work and family, encouraging flexible jobs to meet responsibilities effectively.
Anita believes success comes from the combination of Ability, Attitude, and Passion, with Passion being key. She discussed how women's contributions are often credited to men, sharing her own experience where credit for her ventures went to her husband, Harsha emphasized the need for women to claim recognition.
Anita believes leadership is about managing people and bringing out their best. She highlighted the lack of female role models and the belief that women must compromise to succeed. She stressed the need to change the mindset that women are secondary earners and should be valued equally to men.
Priya, Chairperson of FLO Hyderabad, highlighted that Women’s Day was the perfect occasion to explore the theme "Equal, Yet Different." She emphasized that while equality means equal opportunities, it also involves valuing unique qualities rather than focusing on sameness.
Women bring unique perspectives, strengths, and approaches to all spheres, from business to leadership. Our differences are superpowers, balancing strength with empathy, resilience with adaptability, and ambition with collaboration. Over 150 FLO members attended the session.
