Anglo Eastern Group, a major employer of Indian seafarers, has taken a significant step towards promoting gender diversity in the shipping sector. They have committed to employing at least 40 seafarers per year. These women will be qualified to help officers on cargo ships since they have undergone "ratings" training.
The company, which is based in Hong Kong, is aware of the value of gender inclusivity and wants to see more women represented in fields that have historically been dominated by men. The Indian Directorate General of Shipping has approved training programs for women, and they are qualified to apply for these roles. The strict recruitment process guarantees that the women's "ratings" fulfill the organization's requirements and will be completely prepared for their positions on cargo ships.
These female seafarers will be handling works about machinery operation, maintenance, cargo handling, and seamanship. The Anglo-Eastern Group aims to make a major contribution to gender diversity in the shipping sector by actively recruiting and employing women for these professions. Their pledge to hire 40 or more women a year is evidence of their commitment to creating a more diverse workplace.
The typical monthly wage for a rating is approximately $1,500. If an Indian employee works on a ship for more than 181 days during a financial year, their gross pay is excluded from income tax. In the near future, Anglo-Eastern Group hopes to rank among the biggest employers of Indian women.
