Vasireddy Padma, the chairwoman of the Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission and a YSRCP leader, claimed on Tuesday that the YSRCP government has set up dedicated teams in each district to combat the human trafficking of women. Human traffickers, she claims, are using innovative ways to kidnap and sexually assault victims. She went on to say that these units were manned by police officers from the state government.
Padma made these comments while taking part in a webinar hosted by Mary Stella College in this city. She opened the webinar, which included delegates from the United States, Africa, the Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Italy, as well as representatives from 13 states inside the country.
In partnership with the international justice mission, the AP Women's Commission will begin organising anti-human trafficking cells in colleges and institutions, according to Padma. She went on to say that these cells would seek to raise awareness about human trafficking. The YSRCP leader stated that schoolchildren need to be made aware of predatory men on the prowl in the virtual world.
Human traffickers are employing new online strategies to lure women, she said.
