Ancy Sojan clinches Gold in Long Jump at Grand Prix Athletics, Bengaluru

Ancy Sojan hails from Kerela and is a renowned long jumper who clinched the gold medal in the women's long jump event at the Grand Prix Athletics in Bengaluru. She secured the gold medal in the women's long jump event with an impressive leap of 6.52 meters. Further, Nayana James secured silver with a jump of 6.48 meters, and Bhavani Yadav claimed bronze with 6.27 meters.
Ancy returned to the event after a seven-month injury hiatus, despite falling short of her personal best of 6.63m and Olympic qualification mark of 6.96m marking a noteworthy accomplishment in the respective category. The national state championship will be held in Panchkula from 27 June to 30 June 2024. Andhra Pradesh's Dandi Jyothika won the women's 400m race reaching 51.53 seconds, followed by Tamil Nadu's Shubha Venkatesan reaching 52.34 seconds, and Karnataka's MR Poovamma at 52.62 seconds. Tamil Nadu's Ragul Kumar won the men's 100m sprint in 10.56 seconds, followed by Karnataka's Manikanta Hoblidhar and Kerela's C Abhinav. SS Sneha won gold with a time of 11.41 seconds, while V Sudheeska won bronze with a time of 11.75 seconds, and Abhinaya Rajarajan won silver at 11.60 seconds.
Sachin Yadav and Rohit Yadav won the javelin throw event, despite Kishore Jena's absence, showcasing resilience and determination. This event paved the way for upcoming talents in track and field events.
