The eighth edition of the 2023 Tata Steel Kolkata 25K, is going to be held in Kolkata on December 17, which will be headed by a team of all-women pacers. A 15-member Defence Forces pacer team for the 25-kilometer race and a 14-member all-women pacer squad for the 10K race will guide the competitors to make sure they make the amateurs get ready to compete.
A runner who has competed in numerous races and is skilled at establishing pace is known as a pace-setter. A pacer is a dedicated runner who leads a group of runners from the start to the finish at the scheduled time and who can maintain a constant pace throughout the distance in a selfless effort.
The pacer will lead the runner in order to include those who want to finish in their personal best time. The 14-person women’s 10K squad is made up of runners from Kolkata, Lucknow, and New Delhi. These women come up from diverse backgrounds including professionals, housewives and active athletes.
The 43-year old marketing and public relations specialist Rupa Das expressed her excitement about competing in this widely recognized race. She says, It will be a great pleasure and source of great pride for me to be able to run by some of the famous monuments in Kolkata. The Defense Forces have always supported Tata Steel Kolkata 25K. In order to strengthen this connection, multiple military officials have led the 25-kilometer amateur runners in the past few years.
