In order to oversee the various aspects of investigations, including the relief and rehabilitation of those victims harmed by the violence in Manipur, a three-member judicial committee has been created by the Supreme Court of India on Monday.
Along with this committee, the court also designated an IPS officer to oversee CBI inquiries. Justice Gita Mittal will lead the committee that will include Justice Shalini Joshi and Justice Asha Menon.
According to the Supreme Court, the committee will look into the investigation, relief, actions taken, rehabilitation, and other things as well.
This case was started at Supreme Court on May 4 hearing the petitions concerning violence in Manipur, including one regarding the widely circulated video of two women being paraded naked. Those two women approached the Supreme Court on 31 July.
The case of Manipur is being handled at a "very mature level" stated R. Venkateshramani, India's attorney general. In order to take control of the investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR. Also, a case has been filed by the central agency on murder, gang rape, outraging modesty, and criminal assault under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and IT Act.
