Advent International invests in Ananya Birla-led Svatantra Microfin

In order to empower women entrepreneurs and foster financial inclusion in India, Ananya Birla's Svatantra Microfin has clinched a significant investment of INR 1,930 crores from Advent International and Multiples Private Equity. This is registered as the largest investment by any private equity in the Microfinance Sector of India.
Svatantra Microfin Pvt. Ltd., is a process and technology-driven microfinance firm that was founded by Ms. Ananya Birla in 2013 that offers financial and nonfinancial security to women entrepreneurs at a reasonable rate. The company employs over 17,000 people and services over 4.2 million clients across more than 20 states in India through its completely owned subsidiary, Chaitanya.
Chaitanya India Fin Credit Limited has recently been acquired by Svatantra which has further strengthened its market value. After this acquisition, the company will rank among India's biggest non-banking microfinance firms. The promoter group headed by Ms. Ananya Birla plays a significant role in retaining the stakes.
