The lyrics of the recently released video album by two incredibly brilliant young people from Chankyapuri's Sanjay Camp, "Uski Kya Galti Thi," are nerve-wracking. The lyrics raise important issues on the increase in crimes against women and children nationwide. The two kids expressed important questions regarding the protection of children and women in the colourful event at Shri Ram Center tonight as we watched the terrifying scene from the Kanjhawala incident in silence on the eve of the new year.

The event was "Meri Awaz Suno," a colourful celebration of "Surakshit Bachpan Diwas" hosted by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi's Children's Foundation (KSCF) and funded by boAt, India's top audio and wearables company. It was attended by excited children from 8 Delhi slums. The highlight of the evening was when "Meri Awaz Suno" was launched and a new video album, "Uski Kya Galti Thi," was released by the event's chief guest, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virender Kumar. The music video for "Uski Kya Galti Thi," which was made by 15-year-old Ashma and 17-year-old Tilak from Chanakyapuri's Sanjay Camp, draws attention to the sexual assault of women and children that is on the rise.

Kailash Satyarthi, the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner, developed the novel idea of Bal Mitra Mandal (BMM), or a community that is welcoming to children. To ensure that every kid has access to safety, freedom, and education in urban slum communities, BMM is a sustainable, all-encompassing, and preventive intervention. KSCF is currently operating in 8 Delhi slums and has been successful in developing children's leadership skills. Children from Sanjay Camp were successful last year in convincing the appropriate authorities to establish a new electric transformer in their neighbourhood by creating demand for it.

As part of the "Meri Awaz Suno" project, the KSCF and boAt began a talent hunt programme a year ago to find and develop the talents of kids in four different activities, including dance, theatre, music, and cricket. The programme last evening displayed the enormous skill of the chosen kids, who were mentored by experienced teachers.
