99,809 Women Employed by Indian Railways says Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

As of March 31, 2024, Indian Railways employed 99,809 women, including 2,037 loco pilots, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The information was shared in response to questions from BJP MP Dr. Manna Lal Rawat in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Recruitment in the railway sector is based on established procedures, ensuring all eligible candidates, regardless of gender, are considered. Women are taking on roles traditionally male-dominated in the sector, including loco pilots.
The Railway Minister mentioned, "Direct recruitment to various posts in the Indian Railways is done as per the laid down procedure. Irrespective of gender, all the candidates fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria are eligible for the recruitment. As of 31.03.2024, 99.809 women employees are working in Indian Railways, which includes 2,037 loco pilots."
