Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav promoted as many as 101 Sub-Inspectors, including 95 women officers, to the rank of Inspector on Friday in an effort to enhance morale within the Punjab Police. All of the Inspectors-rank openings in the state's districts have been filled as a result of the promotion of 101 police officers.
“Today, we have elevated 101 Sub-inspectors to the rank of Inspectors, which will not only overcome the shortage of staff at supervisory levels in field but will also give the officers their due right of promotion,” said DGP Gaurav Yadav.
While symbolically placing stars on some of the promoted officers present, the DGP wished all the promotees well.
The added star on your shoulders comes with a bigger responsibility,” he said while encouraging them to perform their duty with dedication, sincerity, and honesty.
He provided more information, stating that all 95 women who were promoted were subinspectors who had been directly hired in the 2015 batch and had seven years of field experience. While the six sub-inspectors who remained were awaiting promotion, they were now promoted to Inspectors.
The DGP promised the whole police force that they will receive their just promotions very soon, describing prompt promotion as a right of every police professional. The Head-Constable, Assistant Sub-Inspector, and Sub-Inspector positions, among others, would all be filled as soon as possible, he said.
Additionally, by promoting this batch of women, the Punjab Government is making another effort to empower women by increasing their participation at supervisory levels within the police force.
